Symposium 4

Defining New Planning and Design Paradigm

November 29 & 30, 2019

School of Planning and Architecture, Bhopal

The modern discourse of the Anthropocene and its disconnect with the nature-aligned values has propelled the current sustainability and resilience challenges like climate change, disaster risk, migration. At this juncture, it is critical to rethink the existing Planning and Design paradigms to deal with the emerging challenges, especially concerning the marginalised and informal urban communities, which remain vulnerable to external and internal stresses and shocks.

BReUCom (Building Resilience Urban Communities), a capacity-building project in Higher Education, intends to address the issues mentioned above through a thematic focus ‘Urban Resilience’ in developing comparative case studies, courses and professional development programmes. Within its fold, the two-day symposium: Defining New Planning and Design Paradigm, will address the issues through a series of expert talks, case studies and site visit.
