A five-day Online Professional Development Programme by School of Planning and Architecture, Bhopal

Under Building Resilient Urban Communities (BReUCom): A project funded under European Union Erasmus+ Program in the field of Capacity Building in Higher Education) www.breucom.eu

Theme: Marginalized Communities and Resilience
As the world is experiencing significant changes because of climate variables, developing countries are the most affected one. The poverty levels, the rapid pace of urbanization, a lack of education & information about climate change and politics associated with it also increases vulnerability of the marginalized and aggravates the impacts of climate change. Global South is case in point. The idea of this PDP is to develop a holistic understanding of how climate change affects the marginalized one in an urban environment. The course will sequentially explore the stages of analysis to compressively map the communities and their spatial relationship. Innovative urban practices that include co-design through existing networks and systems, community-based initiatives, ungendered design, and local governance are the key elements to develop a systemic approach to address climate change and marginalized communities. The aim of this program is to train the professionals for in-depth qualitative assessment of preparedness, communication, adaptability, and resilience in marginalized communities.
